Team Development

As research will tell you (and any sports fan!) recruiting individuals with the right skills, expertise and behavioural attributes is only half the story. Getting them to work together into a high performing team is the second part and requires another set of challenges for the leader concerned.

But evidence from a range of different industries shows that however you measure an organisation’s health – financial performance, customer satisfaction, staff turnover, (even, in the case of the NHS, patient mortality rates) effective team working is one of the main determining factors.

I have extensive experience working with teams at whatever stage they happen to be on the journey to overall effectiveness. Using a range of different tools and methodologies, I am able to create a psychologically safe environment where different ideas and perspectives can be shared that will help the team to mature and progress.

My work with teams has included developing new strategies, addressing elements of team dysfunctionality, inter-team relationships and many other scenarios.

A key condition of my approach is to mirror the message of collaborative working, involving team leaders (at whatever level) and/or the sponsoring client in the design and delivery of any intervention. To me it is critical that the position of the leader is not undermined as she/he/they will be the one taking the team forward when my facilitation is over.
